This progress report came with a slight delay, I was stumped with work and personal things that I had to take care of this weekend, and I had to delay this post. In the past two weeks nothing much really happened anyway, so this post will a brief one.
I didn't have time to take care of Amethyst Platform and put in the amount of hours that I would have liked to. Unfortunately, between the amount of work that I have to take care of at my current job (as the CTO of Vuuh, dealing with urgent projects, meetings, recruiting and mentoring), the time needed to plan my wedding and buying a house (planning the furniture and other things), there isn't really enough hours left for me to put into personal projects. And the hours that I still have available, I prefer to experiment a little bit with other technologies and putting my energy into project with more passive income earning potential.
Amethyst Platform, if becoming a thing, would require a lot of time and effort, providing support, being available to intervene in case something goes wrong and there is an outage. All these things made me think twice about where I put my energy, because I don't want it to interfere with my current job.
I wouldn't want to put myself in the position where I'd have to choose between Vuuh and Amethyst Platform (I'd most likely choose Vuuh because it's a shared effort between all teammates and has a higher chance of success rather than going all in developing and maintaining a project by myself in solitude).
So I felt I need to make a shift in focus: spend my energy on some projects that have the potential to generate some truly passive income streams: create once, sell forever.
I settled on building a game on Godot, something that I always wanted to do. I am now building a simple action rogue-lite or rogue-like with a spell building and upgrading system.
Nothing too fancy. I chose a smaller scope because I want to reduce the risk of abandoning the project when the next big idea pops up in my head (I tend to do that).
Slow two weeks in the personal projects space, but a full plate on the personal and professional life. I am juggling a lot of things and so far I manage to do it without dropping the plate. I plan to write a little more on my personal blog, talk more about more tech decision-making and architecture, but I plan to tackle some more philosophical topics as well.
